What can i do about my greasy roots?

Resolved Question

What can i do about my greasy roots?

My hair, well, put it this way, i dunno what's going on with it. I wash it during the evenings, but by the evening of the next day my roots are really greasy, so i have to wash my hair everyday. I've heard this isn't healthy for your hair, is there anything else i can try? Any interesting things other than dry, spray on shampoo?

when my hairs greasy i put some talcum powder on a paddle brush, tip my head upside down and brush it through all the roots. sounds wierd i know but it works !
im not really sure how, i guess the talc absorbs the grease!
give it ago!

  • You should try only shampooing the top of your head. And don't wash it out right away. Leave it in for a couple minutes and then rinse it out, and then only apply conditioner to your tips.

You should also try blow drying your hair if you don't do this already. With out brushing it. And only brush it after your hair is all dry. Also, do not brush from the top of your head to your roots because this will spread the oils. (Only put a heat protection spray or cream on your tips)

You can also try using a stronger shampoo, or even making one your own. I will attach a website for home remedies for oily hair.

I hope all this works out, and that you find a way to manage it.

    Good Luck :)

  • Oily hair is caused by over stimulation of the glans around the root. When you wash your hair don't massage too much and use a shampoo and conditioner designed for greasy hair. After the shampoo and conditioner has been washed out use some lemon juice as a final rinse as this will help to remove excess oils. How often do you wash your hair? Try washing it every other day instead of every day and when you can wear it down but if you need to put it up wear it in a loose braid or pony so there is no tension on the roots.

  • dry shampoo is good but it doesn't work on really greasy hair (in my opinion, anyway) you should probably go to the chemist and ask if they have any special products for your hair!! or maybe go to the hair salon and see if they know what to do!!! hope it clears up!!!
  • Hiya i had the same problem and people told me that you should use head and sholders plus stay away from pantene as is puts grease into your roots some never condition on your roots x hopes this helps x =)

  • try only conditioning the ends of your hair. you dont need to condition the top / roots as your natural oils do that anyway.
