Resolved Question
Does anyone know a good supermarket brand shampoo and conditioner that is good for volumising your hair?
I've tried many different ones and none of them seem to work. I was just wondering if anyone has found any good ones from experience.
I backcomb my hair alot but i'd like to stop doing this as it can't be good for my hair. It would be nice if my shampoo could add some volume for me.

Hi :)
Im afraid most of the supermarket ones wont work as they mostly are made up of water and many coat your hair in silicone to make it look as if its healthy & shiny. Even the top brands in the supermaket like charles worthington, nicky clarke, arent the same as the exact same ones youd buy in the salon.
With salon ones you find you only need a tiny amount to wash your hair but with shop bought ones you tend to use more because of the high water content which then makes you go out and buy more quicker as it runs out....its a clever marketing ploy really, lol
If you want to have nice volumised hair then you need to invest in salon products only.
There are many websites selling these.
Tigi do a good range and the price isnt that bad.....considering youll be using less than the supermarket ones it probably works out the same anyway.

- They are all about the same hon, but I like Tresemme and Garnier Fructise. Youre right, teasing your hair isnt good for it. If you blow dry your hair, after you get out of the shower, apply a volumizing mouse to the roots, flip your head over and blow dry. When you are done styling, lift pieces of hair str8 up and spray with hairspray. Hold it up and hit it with the blow dryer for a few seconds. Hold it there till it cools (if youve got a cool shot on your dryer, use it) then just let it fall, You only have to do this to the top layer of hair. Hope it works for you.
- The best possible conditioner you could buy is 'bed head'. It's the stuff tony & guy use, and many other top hairdressing companies. It leaves your hair in such good condition, it's amazing stuff! You can buy it i most big supermarkets e.g. tesco, sainsbury's or even stores like boots & superdrug.
Good luck! - Tresemme? I doubt shampoo and conditioner do anything for your 'voluminous' hair look. Tresemme had this great hair mousse voluminizer and it works like a charm for me. All you need is a hair dryer, tresemme mousse, and a brush. It tells you how to make you hair on the bottle.
- Tressemé - VOLUMISER works wonders with my hair.
Available in a big black cylinder container, with a red striple near the head of the container. You get a lot of bang for your buck, and it's very effective.Source(s):
- Supermarket Shampoo is like washing up liquid, I wouldn't suggest using it more than once a week on your hair. Dry your hair upside down instead on backcombing and you can get some good volumising mousses/hairsprays
