Will Head and Shoulders shampoo fade my colour?

Resolved Question

Will Head and Shoulders shampoo fade my colour?

I've heard Head and Shoulders dandruff shampoo would fade a hair colour but would it work on a permanent hair dye?

:)

I died my hair dark brown and I had purchased head and shoulders silky or something like that and it fadded my color 3 shades. it ended up being a brown within a month. but that also could have been the period of time. But the dye was permanent.. ahah well if you want it to fad its worth a try. shampoo doesnt cost a whole lot.

  • Most shampoos designed for dandruff or dry scalp will slightly fade your color, mostly reds, because they all contain Zinc Oxide.
I suggest that if you are going to use Head and Shoulders, or any other dandruff shampoo, you need to do your 2nd (and even 3rd if you prefer) shampoo with a color enhancing shampoo to keep your color vibrant
  • yes, for some reason head and shoulders shampoo and conditioner strips the colour from your hair. okay some fun colours such as reds greens blues and so on fade quickly anyway where as browns blacks and blondes dont (as these colour molecules occur naturally within the hair shaft.) but h&s takes everything right out. nobody knows why.
  • I died my hair Floresent green and then used head and sholders. My colour faded and i was so upset, that i thought that this was 'then end'... but later, I realised that I could just recolour my hair and so harm was done.
