Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

1) tease your hair with a comb.
2)hair spray
or
3)blow dry your hair while it is upside down.

look up on youtube and google 'how to add volume to dull hair' and you will find a heap of results that are easy and very helpful.

  • You could start by using only shampoo or just conditioner once a week depending on your hair type. If you hair is healthy I would only condition once a week if you are looking for volume, as it weighs the hair down. You could use a mousse or root lifter and lift your roots as you dry it. You could also flip your hair over while you dry it so that your hair is "upside down".
  • use a light moose- or my favorite pureology power dressing... don't use too much maybe a dime or nickle size. put this close to your roots and then ALWAYS dry your roots first with a vent brush or simply by putting your head upside down. one roots are dry work on the next 3 inches and then the next. you always want to work from roots to ends when blow drying. if using a round brush over direct the hair forward. This will also create great volume. Tease it a little bit, smooth it out and then finish with a nice light hair spray.
  • as a professional, i highly recommend you get a good professional volumizing styling product. you could also have some texture or layers cut into your hair either with shears or a razor to give your hair a little extra lift for fullness. and if your hair is thick, thinning it a little would reduce some of the bulk and heaviness pulling your hair down.
  • easy blow dry your hair with your head upside down ... good products to use that help even better are volumizing mouses that you apply to the roots... fructis is a good brand and its only like 4 or 5 bucks....
and when you blow dry upside down at first its always like waaay to much volume it settles after about 20 minutes and then looks great i do it all the time !
  • I have flat hair too! Have you tried blow drying upside down? Make sure your hair has cooled down (in temperature) before you lift your head to help "lock in" the upside down position. Also, only use conditioner on your ends. Hope that helps! :)

    Source(s):

  • Get a volumizing shampoo & conditioner and when you blow dry your hair, blow dry upwards and out. Also, Tresemme sells a pretty decent volumizing spray that you spritz on your hair before you blow dry it.
  • Get a voluming hair spray, and some volume products. Don't towel dry your hair because that's a big killer for volume. If you blow-dry it flip your head upside down and blow dry it.
  • towel dry it instead of blow drying and when you put in conditioner flip your head upside down to do it... well thats what i do anyways but i have naturally curly hair
  • alot of the cheapest products are the better ones just do some research! teasing your hair underneath works! teasing is taking some hair and pushing your comb back and forth creating a knot like puff
  • Try the Redken Guts 10 Volumizing Foam. I use it and I love it!!!!!!!! I got mine at Ulta, but you can prob get them anywhere they sell Redken products.

    Source(s):

  • tease your hair at the roots or roll your hair with rollers( make sure you roll hair starting with it sticking straight up0, use hair spray to make it stay

My friend would like to know why her hair is falling out?

Resolved Question

My friend would like to know why her hair is falling out?

My friend is 16 nearly 17 and she is malting really bad, does anyone know what this could be?
thanks :)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

It depends what you mean by falling out.

If she is noticing proper bald patches on her head, or is finding huge chucks in hair on her pillow in the morning when waking up, I suggest she go to her doctor.

However, humans normally lose on average 130 hairs a day.

I have long black hair so it's really noticable when my hair comes out. I lose a lot when I wash it...when I'm combing conditioner through my hair there is what seems to be a lot of hair.
I also have to clean my hair brush every week cos it gets full of my hair so quickly!

I remember when i was a teenager my mum used to go mad cos my hair would constantly block up the shower drain!

I used to be concerned about it...but I'm 26 now, and it's always been that way, so it's normal for me. I've never had any bald patches... just a hell of a lot of hair, so lots has to come out to make way for the new!

  • Well, I am 13 and my hair does that alot. If your friend uses blow-dryers, straighteners, etc. then it could be that hair hair is very damaged. And if she has thick hair that could also be the reason. My hair is extremely thick and I have to get it thinned out alot, or else it falls out. Another reason could be stress.

If she doesnt use the irons or have really thick hair ot is under alot of stress, I really don't know what it could be.
    I hope this helps!
  • Like how? If huge chunks are coming out she needs to go to the doctor. It could be a sign of a lot of things, but one could be alopecia areata: http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-t…

I've had alopecia but all my hair grew back within the year. It was a head scarf year.

If it's just more hair than usual, it's probably nothing to be seriously alarmed about.
  • It might be her shampoo that she is using
  • probably rough use of hair exspecially when wet be careful then
  • donno but cool

Girls, what exactly is it?

Resolved Question

Girls, what exactly is it?

i gotta know what to do against this so i need your help. i'm a guy and this fine a** high school chick slapped my face, humiliated me, because i was in shock and there was no way to block her smack, or duck so she missed. if you know what this move is that she used on me, help me against it. here's what she did. she looked at me, kind of scrunched her face up, was like hmmph! BUT RIGHT THEN, she pushed her hip out to the side also, BUT she had her hand on her hip too(the one she pushed out to the side). BUT, then she flips out her opposite hand! i was totally frozen, like my face fell. slap! the whole half of my face turned red! she stomped off, and i was humiliated by that, so help me please! how did she use that on me so i froze like that? that move is confusing, what do i do against it? do i look at her face when she gives me that look, or do i look at her hand on her hip, or was it the hip she pushed out?? FORGET IT, ARRGH, DAMNIT! I CAN'T BLOCK THAT! damn, hip, hand, look, it's too hard! tell me how to!

Sorry buddy, but there is no possible way to block this. This question has been asked millions of times on this website (seriously, put b*tch slap in the search window) and I have never IN MY LIFE heard of a guy blocking it. My advice is to just not get on girl's bad sides because you will either get slapped or kicked in the balls.

I want to dye my hair blonde...........from dark brown!?

Resolved Question

I want to dye my hair blonde...........from dark brown!?

Heyyyyyyyyy!

So,recently,I've been thinking of dyeing my hair an intense, tomato red(ha ha!)
My hair is dark brown with some gingery red/blonde streaks from where I had it streaked red at a salon last year
I wasnt really serious about dying it red so Im not bothered about that but I am super serious about dyeing it blonde
I went to bodycare and checked out their hair dyes and the Jerome Russel BBlonde High Lift Powder Bleach Kit caught my eye(It also said ''for light to dark brown hair''
I looked at the colour chart shades on the back and where it said dark brown/black,there was a notice that said''not recommended'')
So should I just buy loads of bleach kits or do what my mum said and go to the salon in the half term hols(im 16)
And what exactly do you reckon the stylist will say?
Im not looking forward to going back and forth for 5 sessions and whatnot!
Help??????????

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

A stylist can lift the color in one session if you go to a salon. Also, then if you don't like the color they should fix it for you.

If you want to do it on your own, lightening in steps would be far better than bleach. It would reduce the risk of your hair turning orange and do less damage to your hair. Start with like a medium ash brown and wait 4-6 weeks then dye it a light ash brown and wait and dye it a dark blonde and so on until you reach your desired shade. I say ash because that will minimize the red and gold tones in brown hair that make it look orange or red when it 's lifted to blonde. Good luck!

  • You will need to get a proffesional consultation from the hair salon
they will be able to tell wether you have a large build up or if your hair is in the right
condition ,even if your hair is in the right condition after the colour stripper has been put on
it will take about a month to get back into good condition

    do not do it yourself
    you will regret it

    Source(s):

  • I'd go to the salon if I was you. My sister tried dyeing her hair from dark brown to blonde at home & ended up with orange hair that looked like straw! Usually the very light blonde dyes have peroxide in them, which is very bad for hair, so go to the salon, as you'd probably need all your colour stripping out first anyway.
    Good luck!
  • GO FOR LIGHT BROWN HILIGHTS THEN KEEP GOING LIGHTER GRADUALLY IT TAKES AGES BUT TRUST ME NOW IVE GOT TO THAT AGE WHEREI WISH ID WAITED IVE RUSHED EVERYTHING WITH MY HAIR AND STILL HAVE NEVER GOT IT THE RITE COLOUR LOL

  • I have natural and have very kinky, curly hair as well. I am so familiar with this problem. Before I give you any advice about products and such I have to tell you that it takes a while for the hair to be trained and once your hair is trained then it really doesn't matter what kind of products you use. In my opinion shampoo and conditioner is not such a big deal. I use Tresemme shampoo and conditioner,I always use a leave in conditioner, as well as a heat protector spray by Tresemme. Also, rinse with tepid water, actually as cool as you can take it, it makes the hair shine. After that I use the leave in conditioner and the heat protector spray. I try to let my hair air dry as much as possible to illuminate the amount of heat. So, then I blow dry! This is when the Super Skinny Serum comes in to play, then I use a light oil, like Hot Six. Its a liquid, this helps to lubricate the hair so that it doesn't singe while flat ironing. Now, use a small amount of oil but for the first day it will seem a little heavy but not super heavy, you will still have major body. Always remember to wrap your hair at night with a soft/slick material so that it doesn't pull or split. One last thing, a lot of people spend macho bucks on expensive flat irons but I kid you not, I paid 15 bucks for my flat iron and it is the best one I have ever owned. I wouldn't make it without my flat iron. It is Andris and I purchased from Walmart Actually all of the products I use can be bought from Walmart.I hope this information is helpful. Don't lose hope and remember once you train your hair it will be almost as if you have a different texture and then it will be more manageable..

For this problem I concerned this site http://www.haircareness.blogspot.com/

    Good Luck!!!
  • Go to a salon i used the powder bleach kit on mine to get mine from light brown to blonde...it goes yellow...veryveryvery yellow! I also have sensitive skin so i have been scarred with bleach burns on the back of my neck.

I'd go to a salon and to keep it nice and bright use lee staffords bleach blonde shampoo and conditioner... it keeps all the canary yellow tones out :)

Its a pain in the **** to keep your roots blonde but so worth it.

i have medium length hair and i'm quite pale, so I'm not too sure what would look best, I really want to go brown but I don't want to look too pale and blonde might suit me aswell, help please?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Chocolate brown.
I'm really pale and used to be brunette. Then I dyed my hair blonde and looked even more pale; really kind of washed out. So I would definitely go with the brown. I'm going back brunette thursday:)

  • have the very same colouring as you, i vary mine a lot sometime i'm blonde and sometimes i'm quite dark. other people always tell me it suits me more with highlights but to be completely honest darker is a lot less maintenance so i usually go back even though it makes me quite washed out.
  • Defiantly lighter blonde!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

well if you want to use a quick make up tip then use this:

you'll need:
-blush brush
-blush that compliments your skin tone

your pretty much suck in your cheeks and then lightly sweep the blush brush across your cheek bones. Make sure you don't put too much on, or you'll look like a clown :D

If you wanna go completely natural then you can do something with your hair.

All you'll need:
-bobby pins

grab a piece of hair near your temple that is about 1-2 inches in size and do the same on the other side. Then you secure them with bobby pins in the back. That will instantly define your cheekbones.

If you need a more help just good your question :)

hope i helped :D

Unconventional Braids

# While you might not be young enough to rock the braided pigtails anymore, you can add a bit of fun to a ponytail or hair worn down by tucking small braids into unexpected places. You can try french braiding your bangs to the side and gradually down the length of your hair, or braid a few strands here and there. If the braids are small enough, they can behave like the rest of your hair and stay down and loose or go up into a bun or ponytail when it's time to exercise.

  • straighten your hair and then you can buy these little clip in beads from boots etc (kids hair section) that you just put randomly in your hair in groups of 2s or 3s, about half way down the length (although at the same time varying heights)

also try straightening it an then crimping small sections - not whole strands of hair, just an inch or two every now and then
  • What about a really creative hairstyle? Like maybe do three or four french braids by your crown then pulling all of your hair back into a messy bun, or you could twist three or four sections instead of french braiding. And what about putting your hair in a ponytail and making small braids out of all your hair in the ponytail? Try something that looks hard to do so no one will try to copy your 'do.

How to get messy waves (a bit like Cheryl Cole's)?

Resolved Question

How to get messy waves (a bit like Cheryl Cole's)?

I would really like my hair to have that loose, bouncy volume - however since I don't have hair extensions my hair is not as long as Cheryl's. It's about shoulder length. What would be the best way to put a bit of sexy volume in it? Does anyone have any suggestions (pictures would also be brilliant but if not it's cool!)?
Thanks!

Hi! I love loose curls and what i usually do is after washing hair, don't towel dry, just squeeze out and excess water. After this put in a handful of mousse or hair creme. Divide your hair into several partings and put in rollers (size depending on how large or small you want the curls) and you can leave the curlers in overnight as youh air drys of if you's in a rush.. blow dry your hair with the rollers in. I LOVE this look and i think it's really cute especially when going out :). Hope Ive helped xo.

What sort of hair extensions should i get? where should i get some from?

ok i want some hair extensions for 30 pounds/ 50 dollars can anyone help?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

I get mine from the funky hair company they are a UK website and have a shop in Poole Dorset. They sell 18" wefts for £42.99 you can either buy the glue for £4.99 and glue it in or you can buy the clips pack of 10 for £6.00 and sewn them on and make clip in's alternativly you could weave them in. My sister and i have the same colour hair and we buy ONE pack and share it as there is really enough hair for two people in one pack. We get two full head of extensions out of one pack. They do plain colours, two tones, three tones, vibrant colours so you guarenteed to get your colour. If you unsure of your colour you can email them or send them a strand of hair in post and they match it up for you. They are really good quality human hair and they curl and straighten really nicely they also great as you get lots of hair so it very natural you could even keep half a pack straight and curl the other half so you have a curly set and a straight set for the same price. They send the hair next day too so you could have it within 24 hours. Here is the http://www.thefunkyhaircompany.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=23&products_id=166

  • 50 dollars won't buy you much. i assume you mean clip in because permmanent could cost you up to $1000.
at sallys beauty supply they have really cheap ones that come on a single single weft so you'll have to cut them and sew clips on them(100%human hair), they also have remy hair extensions that 100% human hair for $100. i used to use them but they aren't very good. they have the clips already on.
if you buy synthetic hair extesnions you won't be able to style them with hot tools, just keep that in mind , hope i helped!

    Source(s):

  • the thing with extensions is you get what you pay for. the cheaper they are the less time the hair will last and the quality will not be as good. if you get clip ins i would suggest satin strands from sally beauty supply or premium now with you can get online. or if you want sew ins if you know anyone who is experienced enough to do it you can take that route. i have sew ins personally and they and so much easier than clip ins
  • You should ask Kate Gosselin, she got hers from a salon, and she's now on the front cover of People magazine, but she is now saying she HATES her hair!!!! Access Hollywood. She paid $7,000 for hers.

Plan to change my hair, but dont know what to do ?

Ohkaaye my hair is sooo boring. Its just past my shoulders ad it's a plain mousey brown and a bit ratty, and I plan to get like a total hair makover ?
I want to dye it or at least put colour through it, but Im clueless of what colour/s I want or what would suit me ? (my skin is slightly tanned if that helps)
I plan to get extension aswell. What is best to get ? Glue in, or clip? What are the pros and cons abou them ??
Can somebody (preferably good with hair or knowledgeable)
Thanks a heaap !

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Have whats called a colour combination where your hair is put in foils so you have lots of highlights then have an all over colour of a nice rich chocolate colour. you could have your raggy ends taken off to give your hair a boost and maybe some layering.

As for extensions any permanent ones (glue or weave) can cause the roots to become matted as the extension grows out, requiring lots of maintenance. clips are good as you can take them out as you wish but prolonged use can cause bald patches, i've seen it many many times in the salon.

Other Answers (1)

  • Okay, so sighly tanned.

I say; you get a light brown/honey brown as your base. Second, get highlights.. but not chunky on top of your hair highlights.. get them to blend with your base colors. As for hair extension, glue, clip, none. Get the technique where they make a braid on your hair and they sew them in. You wont see the braid since it's in the middle of your hair.

You wont be able to find them anywhere cheaper, amazon are the best. If you know any hairdressers, they get GHD discounts. My hairdresser friend gets about 10% off! Also consider, do you really need GHDs? Other straighteners work just as well! And also, the mini range is cheaper and still work well.

    good luckk x
  • unless u have a friend willing to give it to you, you have no chance of getting real cheap ones. watch out there are fake GHD sites which give prices which are really cheap they're not real.

I noticed I have alot of split ends. Also my hair is kinda uneven. Thing is though I dont want short hair. Ever. Since I was a baby I have never cut my hair. Its down to my ***.

I wanna get rid of the splits though. Would cutting the ends be enough? Or do I have to go on a treasure hunt and cut everything? Could I go to a salon and have them do it for me?

Thanks. I'll get em trimmed. Also plan on taking a trip to the salon.

When I had long hair (longer then I do now), I was getting like 2-3 inches cut every six months or so to get rid of the split ends. You can just get a few inches trimmed off, and/or have your hair length evened out. When you shampoo and condition your hair, focus more conditioner on your ends because they dry out faster then the rest of your hair. Yes you can go to a salon and have them do it. I'd recommend it actually.

  • Well okay what i think you should do is go to a salon. and if you have curly hair, get a treatment, to nourish and help keep your hair healthy, reducing Split ends etc for the future. then you get your split ends cut off and let it grow back :]
  • you can cut the ends off and it will actually make your hair grow longer and healthier. so just cut 1/4 inch above the split ends and you will be right as rain
  • trim the ends and keep your hair moisturized put mineral oil while your hair is damp and put alot of mineral oil on the ends. and dont use heat syling tools alot.
  • Go get the ends trimmed. You don't have to cut all of your hair off. You would be surprised at how much healthier your hair looks with just a simple trim.
  • You HAVE to get a trim. If you don't they'll start going up to your scalp, and your hair will fall out.
Trust me, I know about this s&*#
  • Trimming the ends.
  • go to a salon, let them know exactly how much you want cut. If you don't have them cutt off your hair won't grow healthy
  • Just trim the ends
  • get the ends trimmed

  • Nope. :-)
I have naturally medium brown hair,
The first time I dyed it, I dyed the underneath blonde,
then about a year later i dyed it all an auburn colour,
then about a year and a half later i dyed it all blonde, but it was a little yellow.
So a few months after that a had it re-bleached to a white blonde.
Then a few months after that I dyed the top half black, re-did the the top half black after a few months,
then had the black bleach out about a month and a half ago, it really damaged my hair!!!
then I decided I didn't like having a blonde fringe so I dyed the fringe a red-ish brown colour.
That's all the hair dying I've done. :-)
I plan to dye my fringe a plum colour in a few weeks. :-)
  • I would answer that question if I could remember what my original colour was!

    hehehe.

Well, it is really. It's really dark brown, almost black naturally. i have black eyebrows.

I used to dye it red colours when i was a teenager, and now i dye it black to give it really good shine and to cover up the greys that I ashamedly get even though I'm only 26 - thanks to my mother for that gene!
  • Certainly not. The original colour looks like dirty dishwater. In my case, nature needs a helping hand because I was given a bad deal in the hair department, with both colour and texture.

So i use straighteners and hair dye to help out where nature failed me.
  • No, my hair has been every color except blond and that's the direction I'm heading now. It's fun to have different looks. It makes you feel like you can be a different person even though you're the same person on the inside.
  • Well Jo, it certainly is, because as far as I am concerned, if people cannot accept me for who and what I am, it's their problem, not mine.
I am who, and what I am, so why should I have to change just to satisfy someone else??
    Hope this helps,
    mike t.
  • It is at the moment. I've gone lighter, I've gone darker but now I like it natural. There is less maintenance in it too. A lot of you identity and femininity is connected with your hair. That's why it's fun to change it up a bit once in a while.
  • Yes, I love my natural colour, since it is low maitenence since I don't always have roots showing :)
  • Except for the occasional grey one, yes.
  • haha no. ive been so close to dying to try out something new.
  • Absolutely :)
  • no , i've been dying it since like 14 :S
But im trying to get back to my original colour :)

  • yuppp :) oh..well except a small bit of purple in my fringe x
  • Yeah.
