How can I stop my hair from always going static?

Resolved Question

How can I stop my hair from always going static?

I take a shower everyday in the morning, right before school. I use conditioner. But when I get to school, it's puffy and it's always stuck on my face. Please help?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

By the sounds of it your hair is probably quite fine and fairly straight, fine hair tends to stick to the sides of your face as you suggested.

When you take your shower try not to wash your hair every day, unless your hair is very greasy I would wash it every other day as this will help reduce the static.

Make sure you are using the best possible shampoo for your hair as the wrong product will cause static, not sure if you're aware but a lot of people think that a good conditioner is the most important thing but it isn't the correct shampoo is more important, if you're not sure which one to buy I would go to a hair salon to purchase rather than a drugstore (although it will be a little more expensive) all receptionist's and of course hairdressers will know the correct products for your hair.

Do not use a serum as this will make your hair greasy I would use a cream product a very light one and use about the size of a marble, work it into the mid lengths and ends, then with the remainder that's left on your hands place into the roots, but this will only be a tiny amount of product as you do not want to make your roots greasy.

If you leave your hair to dry naturally comb your hair in place with the product in your hair

By leaving your hair to dry naturally this is a great way to help reduce static but sometimes it's probably not practical to leave it like this, in this instance make sure you do not over dry your hair or use any other form of heat like hot irons as this would make your hair fly everywhere.

People generally touch their hair through the day, I would be aware of this because the more you touch it the more static will build up.

If you leave a tiny amount of conditioner in your hair but not in the roots this can slightly way your hair down and stop it sticking to your face but make sure the conditioner you use can be left on, it should say on the front of the product.

  • Ive got really frizzy and static hair and i find the best thing to use is some sort of serum ive got john Freida frizz ease serum and it works really well try it if you haven't already. Hope this helps :)
  • I'm the same ! If you have light hair, that's the reason.
I use a heavy hairspray but I don't put on too much or my hair gets greasy .. That's another downside of my thin hair ! x
  • If it's static rather than frizz...this sounds weird but it works...run one of those tumble dryer strips over it and it will remove the static!
  • Put hairspray on your hair brush before you use it.
    (: Hope this helps.
  • use leave in conditioner or just put in hair spray

Highlights/lowights! Please answer!!?

I am 12 and i have quite light blonde hair and i want some brunette highlights (lowlights or whatever) but my mum wont let me!! :@ Please can you give me some good reasons to persuade my mother please please please xx

thanks xx

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

reassure her that you want to do it for yourself ( not to follow fashion or be like others )
remind her that you can change it back
your happiness is important
but remember to respect your mothers wishes and remember also that you have plenty of time in the future to do what you like
then you would get lowlights in a darker shade on blonde not brown.obviously.

  • sorry, but blonde hair with brunette lowlights will look awful no one gets that done. The only reason for getting brunette lowlights is too make brunette hair more dimension- make it look richer, more luxurious etc. You get blonde highlights on blonde hair to make it look brighter, more healthy and also more luxurious. For the record i also think blonde highlights on brunette hair look tacky!
  • say its the only thing u want or i want them bcuz i think my hair is 2 lite and kinda looks like a old persons hair. sum darker highlites or watever wil make it look beter.

Can I pull off a full fringe? Help!?

Resolved Question

Can I pull off a full fringe? Help!?

Hi all! I am looking a for abit of change when it comes to my hair, I am VERY dark brunette at the minute so I am going a slightly lighter tone of brown, but am I a tad stuck on the style, I currently have straight layered hair with a swept fringe but I am debating about going for a more fuller/blunt fringe but am concerned in case it makes my face appear quite small, round and cubby... please help

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

well it depends what shape your face is and the type your hair is. If you have a round face which it sounds like you might then if you want a fringe to provide instant slenderizing for your face, select a tousled side-swept style which cascades down over your cheeks, providing instant minimization of roundness. Avoid a fringe which are worn in a straight line across the forehead which will maximize full cheeks. If you have a different shape face try googleing it (:

hope this helps xx

Have a flick through hair magazines and pick out who best suits the blunt fringes, Can you imagine this being you?

Plus there are a various range fo fringes to complement your face shape etc.

What hairstyle do you think would suit me for school?

Resolved Question

What hairstyle do you think would suit me for school?

i have long brown hair (below my shoulders) with a side fringe. i usually tie my hair up in a ponytail for school but its getting kind of repetitive. any other ideas for styling my hair for school? (i dont want my hair to get in my way at school)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Messy buns are great, they keep your hair out of face.
Headbands are awesome, use them to hold bangs back.
Use sparkly clips to hold back ponytails
Braids can look cute. try braiding little sections and then pulling back in a ponytail, or french
brading your bangs.
Try curling it, straightening it, go to bed with damp hair so when you wake up it is it's natural texture
clips are great, pin bangs to side and straighten
Beachy waves are really cute, scrunch hair with gel when it's damp to get that look!

  • I have the same hair type and one really cute and easy solution is two french braids going to the back of the top of your head, tie each with its own little hair tie preferabbly clear or color closest to it, then flip your head over and take the remaining hair and tie it in a pony tail, its very cute and many people might even follow your trend.

scrunch it up into a bun instead of pony tail

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

I did the same. Im naturally blonde but iv now gone to a dark brown.. Mainly because i got fed up ov being blonde when i was about 13 and wanted to put one of those 2 tone highlight kits through, i cant remember the make though.. Was a disaster!! And ive never been able to get my blonde back.
My best friend is blonde aswell and she wanted to go a little bit darker that she already was. We has a look in boots and they have a semi perminant range of their own. We used lightest brown, its a really nice colour and it faded quite quickly, but didnt change to a gingery colour after a few washes like some other dyes do. Its worth trying the boots own brand because its really quite cheap. I cant remember exactly but its around £3 i think. No more than £5. Dont go too dark at first because when i tried getting rid of my gone wrong hightlights i went to a chocolate brown and now 4 years on i really want my blonde back and my hair long. So im growing it out because everytime i try to dye my hair lighter its goes ginger.. And as much as i love natural gingers (half of my family are ginger and i love it) The fake yellowy ginger just isnt a good look.. and everyone seems so shocked that my roots are that blonde.
Good luck and hope this helps.

  • i wouldnt use a home dye but if you do done go to dark at first cos it miht grab on to your hair and you may not like it make sure you get more than enough dye as it will be patchy otherwise and comb through so the colour is even. 1 pack will prob be around £8-£10 and loreal is a good brand. Maybe go for a tint or reddy brown for more shine. i would get at leat 2 packs unless you have really short hair.
  • I'm exactly like that and currently dye my hair a dark browny colour permanent using schwarzkopf live xxl so if your gunna dye it permanently i would definitely recommend that as it works brilliantly for me but if you want a wash out then i'd use a loreal one because they are not to expensive (about £5) and easy to use
  • I just used the revlon home hair dye preparation on my mom & the color is accurate with the box & so far it's been about 4 weeks & it still looks good.I found the product instructions easy to follow & the after color conditioner that goes with it smells divine, unlike when you get your hair colored at a salon when the smell of chemicals is hard to deny.
  • if you want it to last a long time and look really fabulous i would go with the ten kind of hair dye. i'm not sure who makes it but it comes in a grey box. it runs somewhere in the upper tens to twelve dollars

Can i start an emo/scene fringe with forehead length hair?

Resolved Question

Can i start an emo/scene fringe with forehead length hair?

my hair is as long as my forehead/eyebrows... is it possible to start syling an emo/scene fringe ?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Of course you can, obviously it won't look as emo-ish as it should but it would do until your fringe grows a bit. If you follow this video tutorial you could make your fringe appear longer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8irn2B_GK…

Here's another video which may help in growing out your fringe:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdx8biIDq…

You might need to start teasing/back combing your hair a lot more for the Emo look:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVuCcvyzm…

If you mean short fringe, like this short, then my suggestions will probably work:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_y2Pxq1jHI8A/SQ…

If you mean this short, Ewww, then it obviously won't:
http://www.mynewhair.info/wp-content/upl…

Start adding lots of clips/bows, hair accessories to your hair so that people start to get the idea, then it doesn't really matter if your fringe is slightly shorter.

Hope I Helped ;)

  • Yeah, but remember, the longer it is, the better! :D
You can go to a hairdresser and ask for very choppy layers. I would reccomend bringing a picture, because this can be a hard haircut.
You can also get some hair extensions if you want it look very 'scene'.
But it will look good, don't worry!<3
Let it grow out some more, too.(:
  • yeah that should look pretty cool. just train your hair with like clips and stuff to make it stay whatever side you want it to go!!!! soon it will grow a bit and look more like an emo/scene fringe lol!!!! hope this helps!!!
  • yeah you can get the shape, thne in a few months it would look good
  • Not quite, it needs to be just past the eyes.

What should I do with my hair without cutting it?

Resolved Question

What should I do with my hair without cutting it?

I have really long ginger hair, which stops halfway down my back. It looks really plain though, and I want to get something done to it. I love the length of my hair so I don't want to do anything to it which would mean I'd have to get it cut, or dyed any colour whatsoever.
If you could find an image of what you think I should do, that would be great, but if not, just type something.
Please help.

  • Im a guy and I think thats way too long. Most seem to agree that the best thing to do to hair is just straighten it.
  • get it framed around your face and textured so it will have body :)
  • You ever used hot rollers or put your hair up in pincurls?

To put your hair in pincurls you:

    Wash your hair.
    Towel dry
Start at the crown of your head and work back.
Take a pencil sized section of hair, massage hair gel into it while twisting it until it is a little spiral at the top of your head.
PIN it down with a bobby pin. (hence, pin curls)

Do this to your entire head. Cover or wrap your head while it dries or over night. In the morning, remove the bobby pins starting at the nape of your neck. Run your fingers through your now curly hair to shake out the tightness of the curl to your desired shape.

    Hair spray to set.

    For hot rollers:

Roll them into your head however you want after a gentle misting of hair spray. Allow to cool while they're in your head.

These are just suggestions for things to try. You'll have to put in some of your own research and development time to get the look you like with these techniques depending on your hair type. Its just what I do. There's also a lot of youtube tutorials you can check out to get a more detailed step-by-step.

You can also employ the same technique to little braids on a wet head to give yourself more of a crimped style.

Red is sooo cliched. Don't do that like others have suggested. It always seems like its the hair color people go for when they want something "different", but aren't willing to put a lot of thought into it. Plus, its a pain in the butt to maintain...and for most people, it looks cheap. Black is pretty much the same in my opinion...lame.

With your skin tone, I'd go with a chocolate brown as a base and then ad in some dark purple streaks. Not lowlights, I think that would be too subtle for scene hair...but not the fake crayola purple color either you get with the cheap hair extension pieces. I think you could probably dye your whole head the chocolate brown color, then use either punky color or manic panic hair dye in purple to streak yourself how you want.

Coontail it if you want, or not, I think the color choice will be the most important for you to get a good looking style.

And my vote is for Dark brown with Darker purple to compliment.

But if you dyed if a slightly darker brown and had blonde in your bangs it would look pretty rad.
  • I know you might see this as crazy but I really think you should dye your hair dark red with diry blonde highlights. It'll make your eyes pop.
  • I've seen your profile picture, and really think dirty blonde is the way to go, with maybe some brown streaks in or something.
  • dye your hair black underneath like a peek-a-boo! i just did that and i have brown hair like you!
  • Red would take to your hair well! Would look cool.
  • you look awesome and so does your hair but if you are changing it go blond or red

    syke!
if you have coarse(nappy) hair(like me)then at night put your hair in a pony tail or sock bun or however you're gonna do it then you make sure the front is greased down (no fly hairs) then wrap it tight if you sleep rough like me then you may need more than one scarf (i use 2 bandannas (1 going forward and 1 going backward) then a wrap around scarf above that) then when you get up in the morning if you take a shower in the morning then just put the shower cap (if you use one) over top of all that you may need more than 1 (i use 3 just to be sure my hair stays dry) then after you're dressed take the scarfs off (CAREFULLY) and you may need a wire brush just to make sure the front is down flat and if you have a bun and it got messed up just quickly redo it (nut make sure it's not messy)

if you don't have coarse hair ... i have no idea about you sorry

You should go on youtube and search "scene hair". Theres a lot of girls that are doing tutorials on exactly how they do their hair.

From what I can tell, most of them are teasing their hair and using lots of hair spray to give it the volumne and then clipping in extensions to give it even more length and thickness. You face shape is difficult to tell from the birdseye picture you provided, but it really isnt all that important because you want to find a way of sytling it that looks good on YOUR face as opposed to another persons.

Go to the stylist and ask for a layered cut with fringed, side-swept bangs. Then, buy this stuff:

-fine toothed comb
-hairspray (Aqua-Net is a classic)
-clip in hair extensions (work with your own budget)
-hot rollers
-flat iron

Plop yourself down in front of the mirror and just play with your hair and see what you like and what you'd like to change. After a while you can start experimenting with dyes and all that other fun stuff you see and would like to try out.

Be forewarned...this stuff is bad for your hair. Was your hair only once a week or so to avoid stripping it and use a high quality line of hair products (talk with your stylist to pick one for you).

And remember...the biggest part rocking this sort of look is attitude. Carry it with confidence and anything you do will look badassed.

  • Like Amber said...sometimes it never washes out.

If you've completely messed your head up...or think you might be about to...I always have a box of dark brown or red or black hair dye on hand to act as coverup in a last resort situation.

If your hair is light colored, the color is going to stick around longer. If you begin making a habit of dying your hair, you'll notice that the color sticks around less and less. The darker the dye, the more staying power it has. Red tends to fade. And...once you go black, you never go back (it will fade to a brown eventually).

You're just going to have to jump in and start experimenting if you arent interested in going to a stylist. You'll get your bumps and bruises (I am one of the people that has been forced to shave it all and start over)...but that is the cost of DIY hair care. But, you know how you want it...and if you want something done right...

Short answer: between a couple washes and 6 months.

    Source(s):

  • That all depends on the condition of your hair, but often times it never washes completely out.

You're so pretty>>Jealous much lol.

My friend has hair similar to yours although shorter. It looks really nice when she does small plats on either side and joins them together at the back. Do you know what I mean? Like hair from the sides plaited and joined at the back so you still have some hair down. Or without the plaits. It's up to you.

Hairbands and clips can look cute too. Hope I helped :)

Nizoral shampoo - why do I need prescription?

Resolved Question

Nizoral shampoo - why do I need prescription?

Hey there are 2 Nizoral shampoo's - both are 2% but one of them requires prescription. Why? What's the difference? why whould you need a prescription for a shampoo?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

"Nizoral" is a brand name of "Ketoconazole" - a pregnancy category "C" drug. This means that it can increase the risk of Teratogenesis (birth defects). It is because of this category that the shampoo requires a prescription ( so a pregnant woman can't buy it without knowing the risks. A doctor wouldn't prescribe it to a pregnant woman ).

Also; are you sure that BOTH shampoos are 2%, because I think there are two types of Nizoral; one is 2% - the other being only 1%. Even so, the 1% can't be bought without a pharmacist's approval (over-the-counter).

Question on getting a loose perm..?

Resolved Question

Question on getting a loose perm..?

1. How long do they last? Just roughly

2. How much will it cost? On average?

3. Can I swim if I get it permed?

Thanks :)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

1. Depends on your hair. Most perms have a lifespan of 6 weeks at their upper limit.

2. Oh, this depends on where in the world you live, what sort of salon you go to, and how much you care about the stylist. Big cities and quality salons will cost much more. In the US, it can be upwards of $60. A perm in someone's kitchen can be as low as $20.

3. Sure, you can swim. It won't be good for your hair, but you can do it. If you must swim, get a swim cap.

woh that hair is bright, do you want it like that, go of something a bit duller i think
round faces suit chin length bobs, soft layers and side partings, and that is sort of like these pictures
